I know that there are a million people that write about motherhood, but I don't seem to find many that write about experiencing it for the first time in their forties. I have found this experience to be one of the most challenging as well as rewarding experiences in my life. There are pros and cons to waiting later in life to have a baby. The pros are that you have gotten a chance to live your life and enjoy many things. I feel that I am much more patient as well as relaxed as a parent. When I was younger, I was a little more high strung with very little patience. The biggest con about being an older parent is, well, that you are older. I realize that I will be close to 60 when my child graduates! That is a frightening concept! Overall, for me, waiting was the best choice and I have no regrets!
